Sunday 20th April: The Castro regime announces that all Cubans wishing to emigrate to the U.S. are free to board boats at the port of Mariel west of Havana, launching the Mariel Boatlift. The first of 125,000 Cuban refugees from Mariel reached Florida the next day. (Port of Mariel, Cuba)
May: Fidel Castro opens the harbor with the apparent intention of his people join their relatives in the United States. Within 72 hours, 3,000 U.S. boats are headed for Cuba. (Mariel, Cuba)
Monday 11th August: Cuban refugees of Cuba begin rioting in "Freedom Town" and Tony Montana earns his green card and a job by killing Rubenga. (Miami, Florida)
Monday 28th February: Tony Montana gets busted on a R.I.C.O. violation when he tries to "wash" money with undercover police. (Miami, Florida)
